Floriculture/Horticulture College Scholarships

as Well as Industry Seminar Stipends

Available from Washington Floricultural Scholarship

and Education Foundation

The Washington Floricultural Scholarship and Education Foundation, the scholarship arm of the Washington Floricultural Association (WaFlorA), is currently accepting applications for college scholarships as well as stipends for educational conferences.

The association has made getting the word out about their educational funds a priority, because in some recent years not all available funds have allocated when not enough applicants applied. WaFlorA President Chris Miller sees the scholarship program not only as an important source of educational funding for students and WaFlorA employees, but for the future of the group itself, bringing in the new generation.

Individuals who are interested in floriculture or horticulture are encouraged to apply for a scholarship from the WSRCF to help them continue their education, obtain a degree, or to further their education via pertinent seminars. Eligibility for the WSRCF Scholarship is very open; the only true requirement is an interest and pursuit in the floricultural/horticultural field of study. Submittal deadline is May 15th of each year.

WaFlorA not only makes scholarship money available to students taking horticulture and related subjects at universities and community colleges, but also makes funds available to both members and students to go to industry meetings and seminars both locally (such as WaFlorA’s Greenhouse Management Institute) and across the country (such as the Ohio Short Course) to take advantage of educational opportunities available at these sessions. Applications must be received five weeks prior to event and grants will only cover registration costs, not travel or accommodations.

Interested parties should download an application from the association’s web site at waflora.com (click on the link for WSCR Fund – Scholarships), or for further information contact Paul Troutman at (360) 671-6310.
